Gosford City Surf School
Gosford City Surf School - // Australia's surfing coast //
|Gosford City Surf School began operations in 2002 at Terrigal and Umina beaches. |
Manager Nick Leslie first took to the waves at nearby Avoca Beach aged seven in the mid-80s, when Central Coast surfing was ruled by Aussie legends Ross Clarke-Jones and Shane Powell.
|Nick was the Central Coast’s under-16 champion in 1994 and under-18 champion the following year, and then joined the World Qualifying Series tour, where he travelled and competed from 1997 to 2002. |
Having retired from professional surfing, Nick served as president of Avoca Boardriders Club for five years and earned accreditation as a level two surf coach.
Working alongside Nick are a dozen qualified instructors with a passion for the water and waves, among them national iron-woman competitor Tami Hunt and swim star Lachlan Staples, a member of the Australian team at the 2009 world championships in Rome.
In partnership with the local state government leisure centre, the school has special expertise in running learn-to-surf programs for school, community and cultural groups but can also tailor weekend classes for visitors.
